More about artist Jonathan Winfisky...

"The manipulative qualifies of hot glass fueled my imagination. " --Jonathan Winfisky

When Jonathan Winfisky came upon glass, his sculptor's eye saw new possibilities. In fact, Jonathan was so inspired by the transparent material that he pursued an additional year of study at the University of Massachusetts to complete his degree project, "Sculptural Forms in Glass." Concentrating on sculpture, Jonathan graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.

Living in a 100-year-old barn in the Berkshire Mountains, Jonathan blows sculptural glass forms which are suggestive of earth and rock formations. Jonathan's Crystal Forms resemble glacial ice formations.

A member of the Glass Art Society and the Corning Museum of Glass, Jonathan has been honored with a grant from the Ford Foundation. Jonathan Winfisky has exhibited his glass sculptures nationally.

"My work is about groupings of objects — forms in a series all designed to work collectively in relation to each other, with an underlying design element which carries a theme throughout." --Jonathan Winfisky

Jonathan Winfisky is concerned with the interplay of his designs, generating soft, sensual forms that build repetition to create complex patterns rich in color and texture. These blown and cast vessels exhibit elegance through the use of simple lines and jewel-like colors embedded within clear glass.

Each piece is created by hand in a renovated 100-year-old barn that serves as Winfisky’s studio. Settled in the Berkshires of western Massachusetts, he finds inspiration in the landscape as well as in the sensuous and spontaneous nature of hot glass.
